Embed video in PowerPoint 2000

Embedding Video into PowerPoint 2000

It is easy to link to a sound or video file in PowerPoint, but the presentation can become separated from the dependant files. Embedding creates a compound document where the components stay together. There is a technique for embedding youtube videos in PowerPoint, but that only embeds the player, the content is linked in.

This has been used succesfully in unit 4 of the OCR nationals multimedia project.

1.

First convert the video into swf format using ‘Super’ a free and very good video converter. The downloading process is not made easy, start at the bottom of the page.

2.                  In PowerPoint find the slide you want to use and select Insert/ Object.

3.

In the Dialog box select ‘Create from file’ and navigate to the swf file

select ‘display as icon’ if you want it to be visible for a manual start. You can convert images into .ico files for use as icons that may fit in better with your presentation. Irfan View is great for this and again it is free

4.

The next step is to get it to run -
