ToDo list in Moodle and the three part lesson

Creating a T0-Do list in Moodle

Using Moodle Calendar to create a To-Do list for organising lessons and study sessions. This helps in creating a more formal structure to VLE based lessons beloved of OFSTED and helps the students to be more in control of their learning and to organise their time more carefully.

This would constitute the first part of a three or four part lesson. “1. Check marked work, identify next item, 2. Open ToDo list and put in what you are going to attempt/complete today”

At the end of the lesson “strike through what you have completed, ‘New Event’ copy through work still to be completed put in the date of the next lesson.

The first thing you need to do is add the calendar block, but this is temporary

turn off those calendar items you don’t want to be visible.

Within a label – add a resource and pick ‘link to file or website’

It is good practice to have a Label at the head of each course with information that is needed in every topic/lesson

For the link put in this after the address of your Moodle:-

 /calendar/view.php?view=day

Set it to open in a new window and set the window size in the ‘Advanced ‘ settings

Then go back to the calendar and shut the ‘eye’. When you close editing it will not be visible and will not alter the layout of the page.

When users click the link they get this – click on ‘New Event’ and then OK for ‘User Event’

Put in to-days date and then add items to be completed

At the end of the lesson/session go back to the list and strike through all the completed items and copy the uncompleted ones to the next lessons/sessions date.

You can put in entries specific to a class (group)

-or Course and make them visible for a day or a year.
