OCR NC2 in ICT Unit 5 and 23 free resources for VLEs

I have laboured in vain to use SCORM as a way of packaging and sharing VLE resources. In Moodle the deployment of SCORM units is really quite ugly. On analysis it is not doing that much.

It allows the display of HTML pages in a frame complete with the navigation. The Moodle navigation is also still present so a very large amount of screen space is occupied with the ‘control system’ and not that much with the content that the students will be working from.

SCORM allows some reporting of quiz scores to the VLE management system, but all VLEs have a management system anyway so installing the quiz directly will do that. Equally all VLEs have a way of launching web pages. Additional functionality like receiving students posted work is not part of the SCORM system and therefore has to be handled by the VLE anyway and all of them can do that.

The attached zip files are for the OCR Nationals in ICT level 2 specification for units 5 – DTP and 23 Video. They work fine in Moodle and I offer them freely in exchange for some feedback about there use in VLEs other than Moodle. There is a ‘Document List’ for assignments that would need to be completed and posted in for marking, their names tie up to references in the website that needs to be uploaded to the VLE most probably as a zip file. A link to the ‘Index’ file will open it. The idea is that zipped ‘websites’ can be viewed easily in any VLE. The specific VLE is used for collecting the documents created by the students and marking them. A little feedback would help as well Try it out and see what you think, let me know of any shortcomings so that I can correct them
